The conversation is endless, the dialogue a reflection of a reality that is infinite, unbelievably, impossibly rich. Look up at night at the stars. My brother told me of an observation by the Hubble telescope of a one inch square, a fraction of a degree of the night sky. They zeroed in with the amazing full power of the telescope and what was revealed was galaxies clustered beyond and beyond into infinity, going back, back in the distance. Galaxies. The night sky that we see is basically our own Milky Way galaxy. The fullness of a starry night is the millions of stars that make up our own galaxy. Millions of stars, millions of galaxies. Billions, trillions, gazillions. That is reality, infinite, and literally, as far we can see, unending. That is what happens when we look outside ourselves. Then look within. Same thing. In fact, the entire perception of the endless stars occurred within the vast universe of your own consciousness, the infinite awareness contained within you. We are as amazing as the entire universe.

Thought for the Day 6/22/2002 Come together gentle people, in kindness and love. Gather in sacred circles and adore. That we are one has become our beautiful truth and we are joyful. An ancient people are emerging now, old memories, old ways. The kindness that we were, we are again. The birds are dancing and strutting and the hand of the wind caresses the leaves with love. God lives in the sun people, the beings of brightness who dwell in the radiance, and in the cells of selves who look upwards from the green shadows of Earth, praying our love and gratitude. My hand touches yours. We squeeze and smile, eyes loving. The gentleness is spreading. We are a universe of people emerging in this consciousness. When we meet, our eyes melt. When we love, it is everywhere.
Thought for the Day 4/24/2001 Love is the object, always. No matter the form it has now taken, love was the original purpose. If it no longer looks like love, we have gotten off the track. Neediness is not love. Greediness is not love. Obsession is not love. Love is always soft inside, kind, patient, tolerant, forgiving. If what you have in your consciousness is not that, it's time to chill out, thaw the inner warm divine. Love looks like love. That's how you can tell. We have a basic instinct for love. When we meditate, we are reborn in the stillness. When we reenter, we are hungry for beauty, truth, and love, for that is what we have seen in the strange emptiness that is really the greatest fullness. Our faces change. We become new people, old demons exorcised, the past, a memory, not an obsession. Infinity is constant, cannot be increased nor diminished. Anything that joins that completion is whole. We are surrounded by kindness. We see the love, no matter how deeply buried. We are drawn toward those things in life that move us in the direction of the infinite divine. Follow the fragrance. If it looks like love, feels like love, and acts like love, it's love. Thought for the Day 9/7/1999 With all the images, all the thoughts, the chaos of events and information, how can I grope my way to the center? Where is the stillness? It turns out to be an evolutionary process. When you are still and everything around you is moving it seems you are in motion. That's relativity. So to find the stillness, keep moving, keep evolving. Ask directions. Keep asking. One day, in the presence of Mystery, you stop asking directions, stop moving. You stay in one spot listening to something you never heard before, silence. It's everywhere, inside the noise. You are looking at a deep thing, unfathomable Wonder. Things are drifting now, drifting by, not whizzing, floating unpropelled. That spot is the place you fall to when you stop and let yourself sink down and down and down, past all the moving things, deeper than words can take you. From the center the stillness spreads. Evolving.
Thought for the Day 4/17/2000 Apology is a beautiful thing, a healing thing. For me to acknowledge to another soul that I have been mistaken is an important part of my spiritual growth. The closer the apology is to the event the better it is. The damage doesn't go as deep that way. Apology needs to come from the still place within, from a full awareness of the nature of the offense, from appreciation of the need for love and healing. A begrudging apology because you've been captured doing something wrong is a good start. But healing comes comes from a desire to connect at the soul level. When we do something out of harmony we need to move back into harmony, find peace and share it with others. It is in that deeper moment that we can let someone know we understand what we have done and intend not to do it again. So much wrong gets swept under the rug, ignored, the offending energy bypassed, that we are playing the life game with pain, trying to act as if, pretending nothing happened, hoping it will go away by itself. It is in the peace of meditation that we achieve the standard of love awareness that enables us to recognize honestly and definitively when we have stepped from grace, when the healing words must be spoken, when the apology must be made at the deepest level we can reach. Love that way. Do it for yourself.
Thought for the Day 9/20/2001 There are things trying to come into my consciousness. I try to let them in. I need to create a space in my awareness for the divine to guide me. My intellect just isn't up to the job anymore, if it ever was. So to flesh out an idea, to feel what it means, I need more than my best thinking. My thinking runs up a ditch. I need letting go, opening to the stillness, trusting the divine to operate as intuition, ideas from out of nowhere to bring the seed to fruition. So the process is idea to meditation to idea to meditation until the picture is complete. Meditation is research, better than a book. So problem solving is more than pondering, beating my head against the wall. In meditation I float through the wall, or soar over it, coming to the place where the questions have gone away. Strangely, I come back with answers. What's the problem? Usually me, blocking my own light.
Thought for the Day 7/12/1999 I am not a perfect being. I have flaws I can hardly believe. I make decisions and can't stick to them. I make mistakes I really don't mean to make. I am a seriously malfunctioning creature. I know this. It's just a fact of my existence. Don't try to buck me up or make me think I can do anything I want. I really can't. And I'm a very gifted human. There are people more gifted and less gifted than I am, but as far as I have been able to determine we all fall into the same category: error prone. Maybe there's a species out there that thinks things through, comes up with sensible solutions, puts them into action, doesn't have to learn by trial and error, explosions in the basement and all that. I think they'd be extraordinarily kind. They wouldn't have any mistakes to hide. But the extraordinary thing is my ability to forgive myself my humanity, my imperfection. I can love myself and others in spite of the endless series of disasters we create. It would be great to be perfect. It couldn't hurt anything, could it? But wanting to be perfect, pretending to be perfect can do a lot of damage. Perfectionism might, conceivably, be a good thing for some other species. But not for me. My character defects and my humanity have become old friends, teaching me humility and courtesy on the path.
